The Best Band Reunions of All Time

Band split-ups can cause countless heartbreaks all across the globe, and the thought of a reunion often seems like wishful thinking. In some cases, however, dreams do come true – even if just for one night. Last week, we spoke about some of the biggest and most famous musical feuds in history, so this week we thought we’d talk about the best band reunions of all time:

Guns n’ Roses
Guns n’ Roses were at their peak in the late 80s when they delivered classics such as ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. A few years down the line, however, everything changed when the band split up in 1993 following a series of disagreements and feuds between the members; particularly frontman Axl Rose, guitarist Slash, and bassist Duff McKagan. Fast-forward a couple of decades, the three decided to put their differences aside and announced their reunion at a surprise club show in Los Angeles in April 2016.

Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin made the difficult decision to split up way back in 1980 following the tragic death of drummer John Bonham. The band reformed in 2007 when the late drummer’s son Jason took his father’s position. They agreed to play for a charity show at the O2 Arena in London which got an incredible reaction from millions of fans, leading to their ‘Celebration Day’ documentary and an impressively successful reunion.

The Police
Having reached monumental success early in their career, frontman Sting appeared to have lost interest as he felt that headlining Shea Stadium was the peak of their success. The band split up in 1986 and went their separate ways, but announced a reunion over two decades later in celebration of their 30th anniversary. They performed ‘Roxanne’ at the 2007 Grammy Awards and later set off on a worldwide tour.

There are so many other great band reunions including The Beach Boys, Black Sabbath, and The Eagles, to mention a few. So if your favourite band breaks up or is already broken up, don’t give up – there’s hope yet!
