5 European Music Festivals You Should Head to This Year

Music is a beautiful and powerful thing that brings people together from all over the world – people of all different cultures, races, beliefs, political views, social status, and upbringing. One great example of people literally coming together to celebrate their love and passion for music is through music festivals – so here are the top 5 European music festivals to head to this year:

Glastonbury Festival
This highly anticipated five-day festival has been around for a whopping 45 years, bringing people together to enjoy not only music, but also other performing arts including dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and much more. This festival takes place in Somerset, England, and is going on right now, with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Rag’n’Bone Man, and Biffy Clyro taking to the stage, among many more. Having started on Wednesday 21st June, it will be over this Sunday 25th, but if you missed this one, don’t worry – there are plenty more for you to enjoy:

If electronic music is your sound, then this is undoubtedly the festival for you. Held in a town aptly called ‘Boom’ in Belgium, this festival now runs over 2 weekends and is usually sold out within minutes. It has been around for 12 years, having become one of the world’s biggest and most notable international music festivals ever. This year, it will be running from the 21st – 30th July with names including Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Steve Aoki, Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, and loads more.

This British dance music festival has been around for nearly 20 years which will be taking place in Daresbury, England, between the 24th and 27th August 2017. Some of the DJs that will be performing include Alesso, Deadmau5, The Chainsmokers, Galantis, Hardwell, Tiesto, and Fatboy Slim.

One for the metal heads – this festival has been held annually in Slovenia since 2004 and is the perfect place to go if you’re into the heavy metal sound. This year it will be taking place between the 23rd and 29th July, featuring bands such as Bömbers, Opeth, Marilyn Manson, Evil Invaders, and Malta’s very own Beheaded!

This Serbian festival has been around since the year 2000 and is one of the most famous European music festivals because it caters for a wide range of music genres including electronic, rock, metal, hip hop, reggae, and punk. This year it will be taking place between the 5th and 9th July, featuring artists such as The Killers, Rag’n’Bone Man, Liam Gallagher, Nina Kraviz, Hardwell, Jason Derulo, and loads more.

And there are 5 of the best upcoming European Music Festivals this year. Other honourable mentions include The Reading and Leeds festivals, Coachella, Hellfest, Graspop, Download, T in the Park, and Primavera Sound; some of which have passed already or sadly didn’t take place this year.
